2 years agoThe Chicago White Sox and starting pitcher Dylan Cease avoided salary arbitration on Friday by agreeing to a one-year, $5.7 million deal. Cease finished up his fourth season with the White Sox with a 14-8 record, career-low 2.20 ERA (3.10 FIP), 1.11 WHIP and 30.4 percent strikeout rate in a career-high 184 innings over 32 starts. The 27-year-old was among the league's elite starting pitchers last season, but he did walk a league-high 78 batters along the way. Cease finished up his regular season with quality starts in five of his last six outings and struck out a career-high 227 batters (one more than 2021). Needless to say, he'll be a pretty popular high-end fantasy starter in drafts this spring.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
