Mets Considering Andrew McCutchen
2 years agoThe New York Mets are considering free-agent outfielder Andrew McCutchen as their fourth outfielder, according to sources. However, it's unclear if McCutchen is interested in a role as a bench outfielder behind Starling Marte, Mark Canha and Brandon Nimmo. The Mets also have right-handed-hitting Darin Ruf on the bench as a potential right-handed designated hitter. The 36-year-old McCutchen showed a sharp dip in power last year with the Milwaukee Brewers, finishing with a career-low .700 OPS to go along with a .237/.316/.384 slash line, 17 home runs, 69 RBI, 66 runs scored and eight stolen bases in 580 plate appearances and 134 games for the Brew Crew. Other potential outfield options for the Mets on the free-agent market include Adam Duvall, David Peralta and Jurickson Profar.
