Brandon Nimmo 2023 Player Outlook: Poised For Another Quality Fantasy Season In New York
2 years agoNew York Mets outfielder Brandon Nimmo looks set to have yet another solid fantasy campaign as a member of the National League East club. The veteran re-signed with the team after becoming a free agent. And while he didn't log a .400 on-base percentage for the third straight season, the outfielder did set a new career high in plate appearances with 673 as New York's primary leadoff hitter. One of fantasy baseball's best run-scoring options – and a quality option in leagues where on-base percentage is part of the scoring – Nimmo hit .274 with a .367 on-base percentage, 16 home runs, three stolen bases, 102 runs scored, and 64 RBI last season. As long as he continues to hit leadoff for Buck Showalter's team, the outfielder should continue to score runs with regularity. Elsewhere, his 16 home runs, thanks in large part to a barrel rate that jumped three percent to 7.0% in 2022, finished just one short of a career-high. If Nimmo can continue to score runs with ease and reach double digits in home runs – while adding a few extra stolen bases with the league's new rules introducing larger bases – he could be a quality late-round option for fantasy managers.
