Blue Jays Sign Drew Hutchison, Others Friday
2 years agoThe Toronto Blue Jays signed right-handers Drew Hutchison, Casey Lawrence and Julian Fernandez, catcher Rob Brantly and left-hander Paul Fry to minor-league deals on Friday that include invitations to spring training. Hutchison is probably the biggest name of the group, and he'll return to Toronto after playing the first three seasons of his career with the team. The 32-year-old had a 4.53 ERA (4.93 FIP), 1.48 WHIP and 14.7% strikeout rate in 28 outings (18 starts) for the Detroit Tigers in 2022. Brantly played in only one game for the New York Yankees last season and has a career .225/.287/.326 slash line with a .613 OPS, seven home runs and 37 RBI in 456 plate appearances over 134 big-league games with five different teams in eight seasons.
