2 years agoWashington Capitals left wing Alex Ovechkin closed out 2022 in style, potting his 30th career hat trick in a 9-2 win over Montreal. He became the sixth player in NHL history with at least 30 hat tricks. On Saturday, Ovechkin was also able to tie Mike Bossy for the most 50-goal calendar years in league history, with 2022 being his eighth different year with at least 50 goals. The Capitals captain last hit the mark in 2018. Ovechkin is nicely on pace for a 50-goal season as well again, having scored 26 times in 39 games. He has also logged 19 assists and will kick off 2023 with a run of 20 points in 12 games.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller
