2 years agoWhen the San Francisco Giants flagged shortstop Carlos Correa's physical, New York Mets owner Steve Cohen immediately put out an offer. Correa and the Mets agreed to a 12-year, $315 million contract last week. Although it appears that the Mets are also concerned about Correa's 2014 apparent ankle injury, which occurred in his minor-league days. A few days ago, the Mets flew Correa to New York to conduct a physical examination. The two parties agreed to separate for the holidays, but both sides are eager to work things out. The 28-year-old has been relatively healthy over the past two seasons and has only missed 30 games. The Mets clearly believe that his value on the field is worth all of the commotion. Correa is projected to be the Mets every day third baseman once the contract is finalized.--Rephael Negnewitzky
