Bo Bichette 2023 Player Outlook: Blue Jays Shortstop Should Continue To Produce
2 years agoToronto Blue Jays infielder Bo Bichette enjoyed yet another strong season at the plate during the 2022 season. The shortstop hit .290 with a .333 on-base percentage, 24 home runs, and 13 stolen bases in 697 plate appearances for the American League East club. The 2022 campaign marked the second straight year that Bichette has recorded at least 20 home runs to go with double-digit steals. He's also never failed to hit below .290 in each of his four seasons in the Majors. He should be in line for another quality fantasy season in 2023, especially after registering a career-best 50.3% hard-hit rate, to go along with a solid 9.6% barrel rate this past year. Helping Bichette's case to hit for a high average is his strikeout rate, which tends to be rather low each year. It was 22.2% in 2022, and while he doesn't draw a ton of walks, his ability to make contact at a high rate positions him well for fantasy success. He could have even more fantasy success next season, especially on the basepaths where larger bases could result in a noticeable uptick in stolen bases league-wide. He's well worth a look as a second-round pick for fantasy managers and could be a league winner in standard-scoring leagues if he approaches his 2021 total of 25 stolen bases.
