Spencer Steer To Get A Look At Third Base
2 years agoThe rebuilding Cincinnati Reds plan to give infielder Spencer Steer a long look at third base going into next season, according to manager David Bell. Steer played in his first 28 major-league games in 2022, going 20-for-95 (.211) with two home runs, eight RBI and 12 runs scored in 108 plate appearances. Most of the 25-year-old's playing time came at the hot corner, both in the majors and minors, but he also has experience at second base and shortstop in his time on the farm. Veteran Mike Moustakas should also see time at third base, but the Reds appear to be more excited for Steer moving forward. Steer hit .274/.364/.515 with an .879 OPS, 23 home runs, 75 RBI, 80 runs scored and four stolen bases in three different minor-league stops last year.
