Christopher Tanev Exits With Injury
2 years agoCalgary Flames defenseman Christopher Tanev was forced to exit Monday's matchup against Montreal early after taking a puck to the head. He was involved in the unfortunate incident in the second period during a 5-on-3 penalty kill when Montreal captain Nick Suzuki hit Tanev in the side of his head with the puck. Tanev was sent to the hospital and his tests came back negative, but the team is re-evaluating him. The 32-year-old has been a shot-blocking machine throughout his career and has 55 of them this season in 25 games. He boasts only five points for the year, but Tanev's absence is always felt when he's not on the ice and the team will hope to get him back game-ready as soon as possible. MacKenzie Weegar (illness) was already out on Monday, so another absentee would leave Calgary very thin at the back.
