Jimmy Garoppolo Not Going On Injured Reserve
2 years agoSan Francisco 49ers general manager John Lynch said on Friday that quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo (foot) won't be placed on Injured Reserve because the team has already used six of their eight activations from Injured Reserve in 2022. The team also has running back Elijah Mitchell (knee) that they hope can return for the playoffs, so they have little wiggle room left with the IR. The 31-year-old Garoppolo suffered a broken left foot in the Week 13 win over the Miami Dolphins and is highly unlikely to be able to return this year, even if the team makes a deep run in the postseason. With Garoppolo sidelined, rookie seventh-round quarterback Brock Purdy will be San Fran's starter under center the rest of the way.
