Cubs, Phillies Showing Interest In Dansby Swanson
2 years agoThe Chicago Cubs and Philadelphia Phillies are among the teams showing active interest in free-agent shortstop Dansby Swanson ahead of next week's Winter Meetings in San Diego, according to sources. Swanson turned down the Atlanta Braves' $19.65 million qualifying offer after the season to become a free agent since he's likely to receive more in average annual value on the open market. The 28-year-old is one of the big four free-agent shortstops this offseason, joining Trea Turner, Xander Bogaerts and Carlos Correa. The 28-year-old continues to get better at the plate, and he finished last season with a .277/.329/.447 slash line with 25 home runs, 96 RBI, 99 runs scored and a career-high 18 stolen bases in 696 plate appearances and 162 games played.
