Roope Hintz Signs Eight-Year Extension With Stars
2 years agoDallas Stars center Roope Hintz has signed an eight-year extension, the club announced on Tuesday. The deal is worth $67.6 million in total and Hintz will be carrying a cap hit of $8.45 million. The Finnish forward was set to become a restricted free agent and the deal kicks in next season. Hintz, a second-round pick, has been a revelation for the Stars in recent years, averaging almost a point per game since the start of 2020-21. He has established himself as the team's top-line center and will now start getting paid accordingly. Hintz has posted eight goals and 16 assists in 22 appearances this season. He has become an elite fantasy asset and Hintz isn't a one-trick pony either, as he surpassed the 30-mark in both goals and assists last season, whilst doing some of the dirty work on the defensive end as well.
