Rockies Hire Hensley Meulens As Hitting Coach
2 years agoThe Colorado Rockies hired Hensley Meulens as their new hitting coach on Monday. Meulens served as the New York Yankees assistant hitting coach in 2022 during outfielder Aaron Judge's record-setting season. The Rockies hit .254 last year, which was the second-lowest mark in franchise history, behind only the 2021 team (.249). Meulens is taking over for Dave Magadan. The team also added Warren Schaeffer as the third base/infield coach on Monday. The Rockies are bringing back bench coach Mike Redmond, pitching coach Darryl Scott, first base coach Ron Gideon, bullpen coach Reid Cornelius and assistant hitting coaches Andy Gonzalez and P.J. Pilittere. The 55-year-old Meulens was part of the San Francisco Giants teams when they won three World Series titles.
