Just as the fantasy football community recovered from a season-ending ACL injury to Breece Hall, we were blindsided by a significant hip injury suffered by Ja'Marr Chase.
Reports came out on Thursday that Cincinnati's star receiver is dealing with a complex hip injury that is expected to sideline him for multiple weeks. The Bengals did not place Chase on the injured reserve, referring to him as week-to-week.
Is Chase playing again this year? Should I start Tyler Boyd in Week 8 with Chase out?

Is Ja'Marr Chase Playing Again in 2022?
Ja'Marr Chase's hip injury first became a concern when he appeared on the injury report following Week 6's win over the New Orleans Saints. Chase briefly left the Falcons game this past week but managed to finish the game. The WR is reported to have a hairline hip fracture and a torn labrum, making his timeline tough to gauge.
Chase avoiding the IR is an optimistic sign that he could return sooner than later. The original timeline for him was a 4-6 week recovery window. The Bengals have already ruled Chase out for Monday night's game against the Cleveland Browns.
Cincinnati's Week 10 bye is approaching the horizon. The Bengals are hoping to have Chase back as early as their Week 11 showdown with the Pittsburgh Steelers. The WR is expected to return shortly after their bye. Nonetheless, Chase's injury could be serious and difficult to quantify. If he suffers any setbacks in his recovery, he could be shut down for the season.
Should I Start Tyler Boyd in Week 8 of Fantasy Football?
Tyler Boyd is quietly a top-20 wide receiver this year in fantasy football. Boyd posted a monstrous eight catches for 155 yards and one touchdown last week for Cincinnati. This was the second 100-yard, one-touchdown game for Boyd this year.
Ja'Marr Chase leads the league with 14 red zone targets and has a 27.7% target share this year. Meanwhile, Boyd has run the fifth-most routes this year among wide receivers, signifying that he is locked in as a top-two target with Chase out.
Joe Burrow has thrown for 781 yards and six touchdowns over the past two weeks. Burrow and the Bengals' offense have had their way with defenses as of late. Tyler Boyd should be locked into your offense while Ja'Marr Chase is injured.
