Cowboys Expected To Sign Kendall Sheffield
2 years agoThe Dallas Cowboys are expected to sign free-agent cornerback Kendall Sheffield to their practice squad, according to a source. The former Atlanta Falcons and Houston Texans defender can potentially help fill the void left by the season-ending injury to Jourdan Lewis (foot). Sheffield was a fourth-round pick by the Falcons in 2019 when current Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn was Atlanta's head coach, so Quinn has familiarity with the 26-year-old defensive back from Ohio State. Sheffield was waived with an injury designation by the Houston Texans in late August and had a tryout with the New York Giants last week. In his three seasons with the Falcons, Sheffield had 101 tackles (72 solo), six passes defensed and two forced fumbles in 38 games (20 starts).
