Nestor Cortes Injures His Groin Sunday
2 years agoNew York Yankees left-hander Nestor Cortes (groin) left his start in Game 4 of the American League Championship Series early on Sunday against the Houston Astros with a left groin injury. He was pulled immediately after he allowed the game-tying three-run home run to rookie shortstop Jeremy Pena, who went on to win the ALCS Most Valuable Player honors. The 27-year-old All-Star southpaw only made it through two innings and allowed the three runs on two hits while walking three and striking out one. The Yankees ended up getting swept by the Astros in four games. Cortes made three postseason starts for the Yanks, going 1-0 with six earned runs allowed on 11 hits while walking seven and striking out seven in 12 innings. He should be fully recovered in time for spring training next year.
