Denver Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson has put together arguably a Hall-of-Fame career.
The former Wisconsin Badger made the Pro Bowl in nine of his first 10 years in the NFL and won a Super Bowl in 2014. After 10 years with the Seattle Seahawks, Wilson got traded to the Denver Broncos in the offseason.
Unfortunately, the veteran quarterback’s first year in Denver has gotten off to a rocky start. He has only five passing touchdowns in six games this season. Meanwhile, he has thrown two interceptions over the past two weeks compared to only one touchdown. Now, the veteran QB is dealing with a hamstring injury that could put his Week 7 status in jeopardy.

Is Russell Wilson Playing In Week 7 of Fantasy Football?
The veteran quarterback has dealt with multiple injuries this season. Unfortunately, Wilson suffered a hamstring injury last week against the Los Angeles Chargers. While the franchise quarterback wanted to play this week, the Broncos ruled Wilson out on Saturday.
Hopefully, the week off will give Wilson the time needed to heal up and be ready for the Week 8 matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Filling in for Wilson this week is Brett Rypien.
Should I Start Brett Rypien in Fantasy Football?
Many already know Brett Rypien is the nephew of former Washington great quarterback Mark Rypien. More importantly, Brett has made only one start in his career. That came in 2020, ironically against the New York Jets.
While Rypien won the only start in his career, he scored only 11.2 fantasy points against the Jets in 2020. The young quarterback threw for 242 yards and a pair of touchdowns. However, he also had three interceptions in the game.
Who Should I Target Off the Waiver Wire Instead?
Fantasy players needing a last-minute replacement for Wilson should avoid Rypien. Not only does he lack experience, but also the matchup is awful this week.
The Jets have held quarterbacks to only 208 passing yards and 9.5 fantasy points per game over the past three weeks, giving up only one passing touchdown during that span.
Instead, Matt Ryan, Jimmy Garoppolo, and Marcus Mariota are better replacement options. All three are available in at least 50% of ESPN leagues.
Of the three, Ryan is my favorite streaming option for Week 7. Last week, the veteran quarterback had his best performance of the season, throwing for 389 yards and three touchdowns, including the game-winner to Alec Pierce.
More importantly, his matchup is excellent this week. The Tennessee Titans have surrendered 304.6 passing yards and 21.1 fantasy points per game to quarterbacks this season. They have also given up 12 passing touchdowns to the position, the most in the NFL, entering Week 6.
Ryan should have no trouble picking apart the Tennessee secondary.
