Indianapolis Colts running back Deon Jackson had a solid fantasy performance on Thursday night against the Denver Broncos. With Jonathan Taylor unable to play because of an ankle injury and Nyheim Hines leaving the game early in the first quarter with a concussion, Jackson took advantage of the opportunity.
The second-year player had 13 rushing attempts for 62 receiving yards. He also added four receptions for 29 yards and ended the game with 11.1 half-point PPR fantasy points. More importantly, the former Duke Blue Devil led the team in rushing attempts and rushing yards on Thursday.
Should fantasy players add Jackson off the waiver wire, or was he a one-week wonder?

Should I Pickup Deon Jackson for Fantasy Football?
While the second-year running back played well on Thursday night, he doesn’t have much fantasy value moving forward. Once Taylor and Hines are healthy, Jackson will return to his role as the No. 3 running back on the depth chart and special teams contributor.
However, the former Duke star showed some promise against the Broncos. He had some impressive plays on the ground and in the passing game, including a nice spin move early in the contest.
Unless Taylor or Hines misses next week’s game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, Jackson has no value in redraft leagues. However, he is worth stashing on your bench in deeper dynasty leagues, as he is a free agent after this season. While it’s a long shot, Jackson could find himself somewhere else next year with a chance to earn a consistent role as the No. 2 running back.
Who Should I Add Off the Waiver Wire Instead?
Since Jackson has already played this week, most fantasy leagues won’t allow you to add him to your roster until next week. Instead of adding the former Blue Devil, fantasy players should target these running backs: Tyler Allgeier, Rachaad White, Caleb Huntley, and Gus Edwards. All four are available in over 50% of ESPN leagues.
My favorite of the bunch is White. After playing only 16.5% of the snaps over the first three games of the year, the third-round rookie played 37.5% last week against the Kansas City Chiefs. Furthermore, White had 10 touches over the first three games of the year but had eight last week and scored his first career NFL touchdown.
