Melvin Gordon III Leads Denver Backfield In Week 5
2 years agoAs expected, Denver Broncos running back Melvin Gordon III was the team's lead back in the Thursday night game against the Indianapolis Colts, the first without Javonte Williams (knee), who suffered a season-ending torn ACL and LCL last week. Gordon had a team-high 15 carries for 54 yards (3.6 yards per carry) while adding three catches on three targets for 49 yards. It was a pretty solid performance against a stout run defense, but perhaps most notable is the fact that Gordon didn't fumble. Mike Boone should remain involved to an extent, but as long as Gordon doesn't put the ball on the ground going forward, he should continue to operate as the primary back, giving him RB2 upside.
