2 years agoNew York Mets skipper Buck Showalter said that right-hander Jacob deGrom (finger) will be available to pitch in Game 162 of the regular season on Wednesday against the Washington Nationals if it matters in the standings for the American League East. "He's available to pitch tomorrow and potentially could. It's one of the many options," Showalter said. A blister forced the 34-year-old from his start early last Friday against the Atlanta Braves, but it's not a serious issue and won't keep him from starting either Wednesday or for the start of a wild-card or NL Division Series to begin the playoffs. Injuries have limited deGrom to just 11 starts this year, but he's been his usual strong self with a 3.08 ERA (2.13 FIP), a 0.75 WHIP and 102 strikeouts to just eight walks in 64 1/3 innings in those starts.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
