Michael Kopech Unlikely To Pitch Again This Year
2 years agoChicago White Sox interim manager Miguel Cairo thinks that right-hander Michael Kopech (shoulder) is unlikely to pitch again this season with the team eliminated from postseason contention. There are only nine games left in the season for the White Sox, and it doesn't make sense to rush Kopech back with nothing left to play for. The 26-year-old will finish his 2022 campaign with a 5-9 record, 3.54 ERA (4.50 FIP), a 1.19 WHIP, a career-high 105 strikeouts and 57 walks in 119 1/3 innings over his 25 starts for the Pale Hose in his first full season as a starting pitcher. Before the 2022 season, Kopech had only made eight starts for the White Sox in the major leagues.
