Gunnar Henderson Batting Leadoff Against Tigers
2 years agoBaltimore Orioles rookie infielder Gunnar Henderson is starting at third base and batting leadoff for the first time in his career on Tuesday against the Detroit Tigers and left-hander Joey Wentz. Even against a left-handed pitcher, the O's trust the 21-year-old left-handed hitter to bat leadoff. He's impressed so far in his first 64 major-league at-bats, going 20-for-64 (.313) with two home runs, 12 RBI, seven runs scored and a stolen base over 18 games. The 21-year-old wasn't ranked by MLB Pipeline as the league's No. 2 prospect this year for no reason. So far in 23 at-bats against lefties, he has eight hits (one homer) and eight RBI. The upside is certainly there with Henderson in both DFS and season-long leagues.
