MacKenzie Gore Has A Chance To Avoid Surgery
2 years agoSan Diego Padres left-hander MacKenzie Gore (elbow) continues to be evaluated and likely will for the next few days, but initial word is that he can avoid surgery. Gore could recover with rest and treatment, but it remains to be seen how long he'll need to rest before returning to the team. The 23-year-old southpaw landed on the 15-day injured list on Tuesday after leaving his outing on Monday with a sore left elbow. After making 13 starts for the Friars in the first half of the season, the Padres had recently moved Gore to the bullpen, and he allowed four earned runs on two hits while walking four in 1 2/3 innings of relief in his last two appearances before his injury. His injury could cause him to remain in a relief role the rest of the way, which would severely limit his fantasy impact.
