Nelson Agholor 2022 NFL Player Outlook: Buried In New England's WR Depth Chart
2 years agoNew England Patriots wide receiver Nelson Agholor had mixed results in his first year with the team last year. He signed a two-year, $22 million deal with the Patriots during the 2021 offseason. The 29-year-old caught 37-of-64 targets for 473 yards and three touchdowns across 15 games. Agholor finished behind teammates Jakobi Meyers and Kendrick Bourne in both receptions and receiving yards. There will be added competition for targets. The Patriots traded a 2022 fifth-round pick to the Miami Dolphins in exchange for DeVante Parker and drafted Tyquan Thorton in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft. The former Philadelphia Eagle could be used more out of the slot with the team acquiring Parker. Agholor will compete for targets with Meyers, Parker, Bourne, and Thorton, along with tight ends Hunter Henry and Jonnu Smith. Long-time offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels is now the head coach for Las Vegas Raiders. Who calls the offensive plays for New England has yet to be decided. Still, former Detroit Lions head coach Matt Patricia is reportedly the favorite to do so, which is a noticeable downgrade from McDaniels. The former first-rounder is buried in New England's depth chart, and with an FFPC ADP of 350, Agholor is a dart throw at best in deep-league formats.
