Frankie Montas Will Start On Thursday
2 years agoOakland Athletics starting pitcher Frankie Montas (shoulder) will start Game 2 of a doubleheader on Thursday against the Detroit Tigers in Oakland to kick off the second half of the season. Zach Logue will get the nod for Game 1. Montas didn't go on the injured list, but the A's have been cautious with the 29-year-old right-hander before this year's trade deadline on Aug. 2. Montas hasn't pitched in 18 days due to his sore right shoulder, so he'll be extra risky in fantasy circles in his return to the rotation. He'll return to a 3-9 record, 3.26 ERA and a 1.09 WHIP with 100 strikeouts and 24 walks in 96 2/3 innings over 17 starts. His fantasy managers will be hoping he's dealt to a contender before the deadline, making him even more attractive.
