Jordan Romano Added To AL All-Star Team
2 years agoToronto Blue Jays closer Jordan Romano has been added to the American League All-Star team as a replacement for Houston Astros starting pitcher Justin Verlander. Romano has been one of the best closers in baseball this year, so the selection is well-deserved. He's gone 3-2 with a 2.73 ERA, 1.21 WHIP, 19 saves, 37 strikeouts and 14 walks in 33 innings pitched. The 29-year-old right-hander is tied for the American League lead in saves with 19 alongside Astros closer Ryan Pressly and Cleveland Guardians ninth-inning man Emmanuel Clase. Romano allowed a two-run home run in a tie game in the 10th inning against the Kansas City Royals on Saturday, but he was credited with the win.
