Jalen Guyton 2022 NFL Player Outlook: Speed Will Land Him A Role
2 years agoLos Angeles Chargers wide receiver Jalen Guyton projects to be the fastest receiving option in an offense with otherwise slower personnel. The North Texas product ran a blazing 4.39 at the NFL combine and is currently listed as the third-fastest player on his entire team by that measure. This is further evidenced by the 18.3 and 14.4 yards per reception he averaged in 2020 and 2021, respectively. These long bomb or yards-after-catch receptions significantly increase his ceiling for fantasy. This skill set will be necessary for him to beat out 2021 rookie Josh Palmer for the third spot in three-receiver sets behind Keenan Allen and Mike Williams. In an offense that threw the ball 673 times last year, ranking third overall, there will be plenty of volume and quality targets coming from Justin Herbert. The 25-year-old could also benefit from an increased opportunity if Allen or Williams missed time, which is a real possibility given that Allen is entering his age 30 season. He is currently ranked 115th in Rotoballer's rankings and will undoubtedly go undrafted in most leagues. Guyton will produce some big splash plays that could offer spike weeks for fantasy, making him a player to monitor entering the season.
