Matt Brash Earns The Win In His Return
2 years agoSeattle Mariners right-hander Matt Brash was recalled from Triple-A on Saturday to take the roster spot of reliever Ken Giles (shoulder), who landed on the injured list. Brash was utilized out of the bullpen in his first game back, pitching in the seventh inning of Saturday's contest against the Toronto Blue Jays. He retired each of the three batters he faced in the seventh inning, recording two strikeouts along the way. He also earned a win for his efforts. Brash struggled in his first taste of the majors this year, compiling a 7.65 ERA across five starts. While he was down at Triple-A, he pitched out of the bullpen and struck out 41 batters across 26 innings while pitching to a 3.46 ERA and a 1.27 WHIP. He walked 14 batters over those 26 frames and that will remain something to watch for Brash, who has averaged 7.3 BB/9 in the majors this year. He can remain on waivers in all fantasy leagues at this point.
