Phil Nevin Suspended 10 Games
2 years agoLos Angeles Angels interim manager Phil Nevin was suspended 10 games by Major League Baseball on Monday after Sunday's benches-clearing incident against the division-rival Seattle Mariners. In total, 12 players and coaches from both teams were suspended, with Mariners outfielder Jesse Winker getting the longest suspension for a player at seven games. Angels pitchers Ryan Tepera and Andrew Wantz, who threw at Winker, were suspended three games, while closer Raisel Iglesias and interpreter Manny Del Campo were given two games. Third baseman Anthony Rendon (wrist), who is out for the year after having wrist surgery, will be suspended five games when he returns next year. Nevin made the late decision to start Wantz over scheduled starter Jose Suarez on Sunday. Bench coach Ray Montgomery, who was suspended two games, will serve as the manager in Nevin's place.
