Derwin James 2022 NFL Player Outlook: The Top Defender in Fantasy
2 years agoLos Angeles Chargers safety Derwin James is the rare defensive back that is both a consistent weekly producer and a high-ceiling asset compared to the rest at his position. In 2021 the former Seminole proved that he was in a class of his own when he registered at least four solo tackles or a big play (i.e., a turnover, TFL, sack, or a PD) in 13 of 15 games played. He collected at least seven solo tackles or a big play in 11 games. To translate that production for IDP newbies, James had a higher ceiling and floor than any other DB in 2021. The Florida State product also has the physical profile to dominate his position for the next few years. That is why we believe James deserves the Travis Kelce treatment from IDP managers, meaning he should be elevated in drafts because of his dominance at a thin position. Consider him a worthy contender for the top defender off most 2022 draft boards.
