Trey McBride 2022 NFL Player Outlook: Late-Round TE Sleeper
2 years agoArizona Cardinals tight end Trey McBride was the best-ranked tight end from the previous draft. This offseason, he will be competing with veteran Zach Ertz for the starting job. McBride is in a similar situation to Pat Freiermuth's last season with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Freiermuth started last season behind the aging Eric Ebron, who had played well the previous season. It did not take long for Freiermuth to take the starting job. Currently, the 22-year-old sits behind Zach Ertz on the depth chart. Ertz had a great comeback season, finishing the year with 763 receiving yards and five touchdowns. This season, Ertz turns 32, and even after his excellent season, Arizona will utilize McBride in the offense. During his time at Colorado State, he showed extreme athleticism and the ability to create separation to get open. He finished his senior season with 90 receptions and 1,121 receiving yards. McBride is the most NFL-ready tight end from last year's draft, and it shouldn't take long for him to conquer the starting role. If he can secure the No. 1 spot on the depth chart, be ready to scoop him off the waiver wire or take a chance on the rookie tight end in deep-league formats.
