Jeremy Pena Dealing With Thumb Injury
3 years agoHouston Astros general manager James Click said that the "initial read" is that nothing is severe with rookie shortstop Jeremy Pena's left thumb injury. The Astros will know more on Wednesday morning because his testing was pushed back due to a delayed flight. Fantasy managers should plan on Pena being unavailable on Wednesday against the Texas Rangers, but it sounds like he avoided a serious injury that would knock him out for an extended period of time. Veteran Aledmys Diaz filled in at the 6 for Pena on Tuesday against Texas. The 24-year-old is in the running for American League Rookie of the Year so far. He's hitting a strong .277/.333/.471 with an .805 OPS, nine home runs, 27 RBI, 27 runs scored and six stolen bases in his first 191 major league at-bats.
