Jamison Crowder 2022 NFL Player Outlook: Buffalo's New Slot Receiver
3 years agoBuffalo Bills wide receiver Jamison Crowder is moving places for the third time in his career ahead of the 2022 season. After spending three years in Washington and three more in New York playing for the Jets, he won't be going too far away from his last home, though, as he will be catching passes for the Buffalo Bills and from star QB Josh Allen this year. And judging by the rest of the Bills' moves this offseason, mainly not re-signing slot-receiver Cole Beasley, this transaction and Crowder's future can't look brighter than it seems, at least at this point in the offseason. The 28-year-old has played in the slot most of the time in New York and has been excellent at it. Only the games he missed in the past two years (four games in 2020 and five last season) killed his fantasy upside a bit, and it's not that the Jets quarterbacks have helped him reach gaudy numbers effortlessly at any point in his career. That said, Crowder's three years as a Jet finished with him scoring 12.4, 14.3, and 9.1 PPR points per game. He's caught at least 51 passes in all three last seasons for at least 447+ yards and 6, 6, and lastly, two receiving touchdowns, respectively. The veteran wide receiver will be tasked with replacing Beasley one-for-one in Buffalo, which is fantastic news and a savvy move by the ex-Jet. Beasley has gotten 106 or more targets in each of his three seasons as a Bill, so the volume will undoubtedly be there for Crowder, and if he can replicate Beasley's rates, then Crowder should easily be a lock for a WR3 finish with upside for more. For context, Beasley caught an average of 77 targets for 812 yards and nearly 3.7 TDs in the last three seasons playing under Josh Allen's quarterbacking. Nothing Crowder can't mimic, at least as I see it.
