Christian Kirk 2022 Outlook: A Low Ceiling But Tremendous Value Late In Drafts
3 years agoJacksonville Jaguars wide receiver and free-agent addition Christian Kirk will step into 2022 as his team's clear-cut WR1. Over four years in Arizona, the 25-year-old Kirk showed some promise but could never emerge as a reliable target, failing to top the 1,000-yard mark in any season. However, his skill set landed him a lucrative contract with Jacksonville, to the tune of $72 million over four years and disrupting the wide receiver market as a whole. While Jacksonville had an active offseason, the team's primary skill positions still only consist of Kirk, wide receivers Marvin Jones Jr. and Zay Jones, and tight ends Evan Engram and Dan Arnold. Kirk is clearly positioned to be quarterback Trevor Lawrence's premier target, but the question remains whether the Jacksonville aerial attack offers too little production distributed among too many people. This includes the return of running back Travis Etienne Jr. from a foot injury, which could further dilute the target share for the receiving corps. While Kirk is unlikely to win leagues, his ADP is all the way down around 109 as the WR44. His expected snap share alone should give him a good chance of finishing inside the top-40, particularly if Lawrence shows reasonable development.
