Paul Sewald Notches First Save On Tuesday
3 years agoSeattle Mariners pitcher Paul Sewald allowed one run on one hit with a strikeout across 1 1/3 innings in Tuesday's 5-4 win over the Philadelphia Phillies. He entered the eighth frame to protect a two-run lead. The 31-year-old surrendered a solo shot to Jean Segura. After that, he settled down, getting Rhys Hoskins to ground out, and struck out Johan Camargo to earn the save. He owns a 3.86 ERA, 0.54 WHIP, and a 10:1 K: BB across 9 1/3 innings in 2022. Sewald is mainly used in high-leverage situations but has plenty of fantasy value in leagues that reward saves and holds.
