D'Eriq King Signs With Patriots
3 years agoFormer Miami and Houston quarterback and wide receiver D'Eriq King signed with the New England Patriots as an undrafted free agent. Patriots director of player personnel Matt Groh convinced King that he'd be given a chance to prove himself in a multi-dimensional role. King could line up anywhere from QB to WR, running back and as a kick returner. Most NFL teams auditioned him as a quarterback, but many teams were also intrigued by his versatility as a slot receiver and red-zone threat. King was invited to the scouting combine in February, but he was rehabbing from a shoulder injury. He started just three games last season for Miami due to injury, but he threw for 2,686 yards, 23 touchdowns and five interceptions while rushing for 538 yards and four TDs in 2020.
