Sammy Watkins Not A Lock To Make Final Roster
3 years agoGreen Bay Packers wide receiver Sammy Watkins, who has played a full regular season just once in his career in his rookie season in 2014, isn't a lock to make the team's final roster out of training camp. Watkins last surpassed three touchdowns and 14 games played in a season in 2017, when he played in 15 games and caught eight touchdowns for the Los Angeles Rams. Head coach Matt LaFleur was the offensive coordinator in LA that year, and Watkins has also been coached by wide receivers coach Jason Vrable. Last year, Watkins had 27 catches for 394 yards and a touchdown in 13 games for the Baltimore Ravens. If Watkins stays healthy, he could be the No. 2 outside receiver behind Allen Lazard, and he could help replace the deep-ball prowess lost when Marquez Valdes-Scantling left in free agency. But depending on whom the Packers draft at the position, there's a chance Watkins might not even make the roster.
