Albert Pujols To Retire After The Season
3 years agoFuture Hall of Fame first baseman Albert Pujols signed a one-year contract with the St. Louis Cardinals this past weekend. Following the signing, he spoke with reporters and stated, "This is it for me. This is my last run." 2022 will be Pujols' 22nd season in the majors. The 42-year-old spent the first 11 years of his career with the Cardinals before signing with the Los Angeles Angels. It's certainly poetic to see the long-time Cardinal close things out as a member of the franchise he made his name with. He'll likely play a bench role for the Cardinals this year while making some starts at designated hitter. The slugger played in 109 games last year and slashed .236/.284/.433 with 17 home runs, 50 RBI and 29 runs.
