Semyon Varlamov Frustrates Senators With First Shutout
3 years agoNew York Islanders goaltender Semyon Varlamov recorded his first shutout of the season on Tuesday, pushing away 24 shots in a 3-0 victory over Ottawa. The Senators threw most of their shots (13) in Varlamov's way in the opening period but couldn't find a way through and had to settle for another loss when the Islanders scored three goals inside the final 10 minutes of play. Varlamov upped his record to 6-10-2 and now sits on a 2.67 goals-against average and a .917 save percentage for the season. The Russian veteran has collected half of his wins across his last four starts, so he's finally hit some form, and fantasy managers should pay attention.
