3 years agoThe Kansas City Royals are one of the teams trying to acquire Oakland Athletics right-hander Frankie Montas, according to sources. The Royals freed up $8.5 million in the trade Wednesday that sent left-hander Mike Minor to the Cincinnati Reds in exchange for lefty reliever Amir Garrett. The A's, on the other hand, have already traded starting pitcher Chris Bassitt, first baseman Matt Olson and third baseman Matt Chapman as they begin a rebuild. The Royals are looking to acquire more young starting pitcher after trading away veteran Minor on Wednesday. Montas and lefty Sean Manaea are drawing interest from the Minnesota Twins, Chicago White Sox and New York Yankees as well.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
