We have upon us the final regular season day for CBB. This next week will be filled with conference tournament games, and then the madness begins. This slate is rather small, but is somewhat typical of what Sunday slates look like.
Smaller than average slates in DFS have their pros and cons, but the lineup construction process still remains the same. You lock in your studs that you like along with your value guys, and build from there. Sometimes people get carried away with the thought that they need to have as many studs as possible on small slates for safe production, but then the rest of their lineup suffers from this. Regardless of slate size, you should never go against your DFS principles and today's small slate is no different.
So without further delay, below are our favorite Daily Fantasy College Basketball picks for FanDuel DFS games on February, 28th 2016.
CBB DFS Guards to Target on FanDuel
Top Play: Yogi Ferrell, Indiana ($8,200)
Yogi will be playing in his final home game as a Hoosier against Maryland, and he'll certainly want to go out on a high note. This game features two of the top teams in the Big10 and is a huge game for both teams. These close fast paced games are typically the ones where Yogi is far more aggressive because Indiana needs him to be. He has been guilty this year of court loitering, but IU will need him to perform well to win this game. Also, make sure you look for news on Robert Johnson because if he can't go Yogi moves into borderline must play range. I don't expect this news to be available by lineup lock, but make sure you are looking for this news beforehand just in case.
Mid Tier: Jacob Evans, Cincinnati ($5,900)
Evans has been getting huge run with the recent injuries to the Bearcats. He actually hasn't sat once in his last two games. While both Cobb and Thomas are questionable again, Evans could be inline for big run again. The good news is that you'll have this news before lineups lock, as this game starts at 12 EST. There aren't many safe options on this slate, but if both those guys can't go Evans is as safe as you can get. His court time alone is worth a decent amount of peripherals and if his threes are falling he can make value easily. This is not an ideal match-up, but again there is serious value here.
Value: Louis Dabney, Tulane ($5,500)
As far as team scoring goes, Tulane is one of the worst in the entire country. The thing here is though that Tulane is rarely on a Fanduel slate, and their pricing is not 100% accurate. This is not a lock and load everywhere price for Dabney, but his floor is typically in the low 20s. Dabney plays nearly the entire game, and while this game will be slow paced, his usage is very high in this offense. Dabney offers good peripherals and we have another senior day narrative play on our hands here as well. Play him with confidence in cash and GPPs.
CBB DFS Forwards to Target on FanDuel
Top Play: A.J. Hammons, Purdue ($8,600)
I think people may look at this Purdue game, see that Vegas has a low projected total and avoid it. The issue with this is that Hammons is a monster at home and is virtually match-up proof. He also played very well against Wisconsin earlier in the year, and Purdue will need a similar performance from him to secure a victory. Hammons is a true center in CBB which is rare, and he does almost all of his work in the low post. I expect Purdue to lean on Hammons tomorrow as they try to have their big senior forward go out with a win.
Mid Tier: Troy Williams, Indiana ($6,600)
Troy Williams went through a bit of a dry spell in January and into February, but recently he has been back to form. Barring foul trouble he should see all the court time he can handle in this game, and with the projected pace, he could be in for a strong game. For a forward, Williams has good peripherals, and as mentioned he is playing very good ball recently. Don't let his lack of minutes in his last two fool you, as one was due to foul trouble and the other was a blowout. He will see a lot of court time, and I love pairing him with Yogi in this game.
Value: Amida Brimah, Connecticut ($5,400)
Brimah is coming off of a tough road game where he struggled to get anything going, but this match-up against UCF will be a bit easier for him. Tacko Fall for UCF is coming off his two best games of the year, but Brimah will be quite a tough test for him. Brimah will match-up well with Tacko and I like Brimah to outplay him here. Connecticut will want to match-up with Tacko, so I expect to see decent run from Brimah in this game. Tacko Fall for 500 more in salary could pay off his tag, but you would be chasing points with him as Brimah is one of the best rim protectors in CBB. Don't let Brimah's recent performances fool you, he is more talented than this low price tag.
