BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team Leagues
ROSTERED IN: 44% of leagues
ANALYSIS: Luke Kennard's last couple of games through Friday were not his best of the year, that's for sure. He could only play 16 minutes to close January in a game in which he finished 2-1-2 shooting 14% from the floor, and although he rebounded against the Lakers on Thursday he still finished with a low 10-2-3 in 30 minutes. That said, Kennard is one of the leading Clips coming off the pine nightly and getting more than a fair share of chances on offense has to average a usage rate above 19% since coming back to the rotation on Jan. 19.
Kennard is probably not as good as the Clippers thought he was when they inked him to his current deal. Cold world. But Kennard isn't bad, either. In the nine games he's played since he returned to the court on Jan. 19, Kennard is playing 27 MPG as part of the second unit and averaging a more than palatable 13-4-2 line. That's not incredible, obviously, but that's also Kennard's average floor with tons of upside attached to it and sky-high viability going forward with both of PG13 and Kawhi most probably done for the season.
The three-pointers fall like raindrops on a nightly basis, and even though Kennard hoists three-pointers as a madman (6.3 of his 9.5 FGA come from beyond the arc), he's still sustaining solid 44/43/88 shooting splits. Kennard, Patty Mills, Seth Curry, and Tyrese Maxey are the only four players with a 40/40/85 baseline this season, mind you. Not a lot of goodies in the rest of the categories, sadly, but the shooting percentages and the triples make Kennard a must-have in deeper formats while his low turnovers are also boosters for those in 9-cat leagues.
