Bo Bichette 2022 Player Outlook: Rookie Season Stud And Room To Grow
3 years agoBo Bichette's first full season in the Majors couldn't have gone much better. In 159 games, Bichette's fantasy line was .298 avg, 29 HR, 102 RBI, 121 R and 25 SB. Only three other players had 20/20 seasons with 100+ runs and RBI. And none of the others hit over .270. Only Blue Jays teammate Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (123) scored more runs than Bichette so it should come as no surprise that Bichette is currently being drafted in the middle of the first round. Bichette's value does take a slight hit in leagues counting walks or OBP as his 5.8% BB% ranked in the 13th percentile. That's down to how aggressive he is at the plate, with a 57.8% Swing% which ranked tied-third among qualified hitters in 2021. It certainly didn't do him any harm considering his performance and the league leader in Swing% was Salvador Perez who was tied for the MLB lead in homers with 48. Bichette was a blue-chip prospect and given 2021 was his first full season, there's reason to believe he can improve in 2022. A repeat of 2021 will provide draft day value and if he does take a further step forward, he's got the potential to be the fantasy MVP in 2022.
