Randy Arozarena-2022 Player Outlook- Solid Outfielder With The Potential For More
3 years agoTampa Bay Rays outfielder Randy Arozarena won the American League Rookie of the Year after slashing .274/.356/.459 with 20 home runs, 69 RBI, 94 runs scored, and 20 stolen bases across 604 plate appearances in 2021. Despite coming off one of the best statistical postseasons ever in 2020, slashing .377/.429/.831 with a .515 WOBA across 84 plate appearances, the 26-year-old's slugging percentage dropped from .641 in 2020 to .459 last year, including a 70 point drop from SLG to xSLG in 2021. Fantasy managers should expect another 20/20 season with a .275 batting average in 2022. We all know Arozarena turns it up a notch once the calendar flips to October, but his stats over the past year and a half (minus the postseason) have Arozarena as a top-20 fantasy outfielder with the potential for more. He is only 26 and has the potential to be a 30/30 player if he can mix in his impressive playoff stats into the regular season. Steamer has Arozarena projected with a .338 WOBA, .257/.339/.450 slash line with 25 homers and 19 stolen bases. According to RotoBaller's Expected Draft Values, the Rays postseason hero has an ADP of 55 in NFBC leagues, putting him below fair value for upcoming fantasy drafts. Arozarena could certainly exceed that value if he can put it all together in 2022.
