Tigers Considering Javier Baez, Marcus Semien
3 years agoWith free-agent shortstop Carlos Correa's price tag potentially too steep for the Detroit Tigers, they are "considering" Javier Baez and Marcus Semien for the position. The Tigers have multiple needs this year and won't spend $300 million on any one player like Correa. Detroit is transitioning from a rebuild to a team ready to contend, and they already signed left-hander Eduardo Rodriguez to a five-year deal and traded for catcher Tucker Barnhart. The free-agent market at shortstop is stacked this offseason, so the Tigers will have plenty of options on that front. Semien is coming off a career year in Toronto, while Baez finished the year strong with the New York Mets while showing more plate discipline. Either option would be a huge win for the Tigers as they look toward 2022 and beyond.
