Tommy Sweeney Has Big Opportunity Ahead Of Him
3 years agoWith Buffalo Bills tight end Dawson Knox (hand) out several weeks with a broken hand, Tommy Sweeney has a big opportunity over the next couple of games. Knox is tied with Bengals tight end C.J. Uzomah for the most touchdowns (five) by a tight end this year and leads Buffalo in TDs. Sweeney, a seventh-rounder in 2019, caught his first career touchdown pass when Knox left the game in Week 6. He's primarily a blocking tight end, but he's caught all four of his targets this season. Sweeney had eight receptions for 114 yards in his rookie season and didn't play in 2020 due to a foot injury and a heart condition. Because Sweeney missed a year of development last year and doesn't have a ton of pass-catching experience, he'll likely only be a bye-week filler as a touchdown-dependent TE2 in Knox's absence. The Bills could also use more four-receiver sets.
