David Njoku Misses Another Practice Thursday
3 years agoCleveland Browns tight end David Njoku (knee) missed his second straight practice of the week on Thursday. Njoku will be in danger of missing his first game of the season in Week 5 against the Los Angeles Chargers if he cannot return to practice on Friday. If he cannot get cleared, Austin Hooper and Harrison Bryant would likely see more work in the passing game. Through four games, Hooper leads this three-headed tight end committee with 11 receptions on 16 targets for 97 yards and a touchdown. Both Njoku and Bryant have 10 targets apiece, and Njoku has the most receiving yardage (111 yards). The Chargers defense has allowed 23 receptions, 257 yards and three touchdowns to tight ends this year, so Hooper would become more of a TE2 sleeper if Njoku is inactive.
