Falcons Emphasizing Speed, Movement With Matt Ryan
3 years agoAtlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan has been working on his speed and movement early on in training camp. The 13-year veteran ran a 4.89 40-yard dash and has always been a traditional pocket passer, considering he's never rushed for more than 150 yards in a season, so the sudden focus on his speed is a bit odd. However, head coach Arthur Smith clearly values mobility at the position, as Ryan Tannehill posted some of the best rushing numbers of his career, particularly in the touchdown department. Ryan shouldn't suddenly be counted on as a dual-threat option in fantasy, though added movement on the field certainly adds some intrigue to both his passing and rushing outlook in 2021. Ryan figures to be a solid option right on the QB 1/2 border, providing fantasy investors with more of a high-floor option as their signal-caller.
