Dan Arnold Emerging As Receiving Threat In Carolina
3 years agoCarolina Panthers tight end Dan Arnold has earned the praise of his new head coach Matt Rhule. Rhule said the team looks to Arnold as a red zone threat, third-down threat, and vertical threat in the passing game, also calling him an "excellent receiver." Arnold is unproven at the NFL level, having tallied 51 catches for 715 yards and seven touchdowns in 31 games, though he ranks in the 78th percentile or better among tight ends in both 40 time and catch radius. Additionally, beat writer Alaina Getzenberg reports that the connection between Arnold and new quarterback Sam Darnold has been a strong one so far in camp. While he seems to be trending towards a far bigger role in the offense in Carolina, he'll still have to translate all the praise and chemistry-building onto the field come Sundays this fall. He's not worth drafting at this juncture, though fantasy managers should continue to monitor practice and preseason reports to see if he emerges as the clear starter.
