Jordan Montgomery Pitches Five Solid Innings In No-Decision
3 years agoNew York Yankees starting pitcher Jordan Montgomery gave his team five strong innings in Sunday's no-decision against the Marlins. Montgomery held Miami to one run on just three hits while issuing one walk. The lefty struck out five while effectively utilizing his off-speed pitches, generating whiff rates of at least 38 percent on each of his curveball and changeup. Montgomery looks to be carrying his July success into August, as the previous month saw him record a 2.93 ERA with a 30:11 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 27 2/3 innings. He often doesn't get run support from the Yankee lineup but can still offer solid ratios and about a strikeout per inning even if he isn't racking up wins.
